Al Jazeera’s senior political correspondent Marwan Bishara gave this interview as the Gaza ceasefire deal was being announced, with a realistic appraisal of what may be expected from war criminals and fascists in charge of the Zionist state and its army.
Bishara has been providing perceptive and considered commentary on 'Israel's' war on Gaza since its inception, not mincing words about the genocide or spreading emotive propaganda. His final observations about the overwhelming and impossible task of 'cleaning up' and 'reconstructing' what the Israelis have just spent 16 months destroying are the most important of all. He also points out - for those who have failed to notice - that Trump and the Israel camp have no interest in anyone other than the 34 hostages to be released in the first six weeks - in common with our media, who have interviewed hostage relatives so many times we know all their stories - while never talking to the thousand mothers whose sons and husbands have been locked in 'Israel's' hell-hole torture camps for years or decades. It is also a noteworthy that the score board in Tel Aviv tells us it is 465 days the 'hostages' have been held in Gaza, while it also happens that the number of people the IOF has killed since October 8th 2023 is 100 times that figure - 46,500 verified deaths, while the real number is likely closer to 300 times the 100 hostages still held. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands severely injured and debilitated, the starving and sick, and the mentally traumatised beyond repair. It is a war crime like no other.
