At an emergency meeting of the Arab League in Cairo, convened following 'Israel's' breaking of the ceasefire agreement on March 1st, there was an unexpected guest - the so-called 'transitional president' from Syria, Ahmed al Sharaa. For those who noticed the former leader of terrorist organisation HTS walking with the kings in Al Sisi's flower-bedecked palace it was something of a shock - indicating an apparent acceptance of this unelected imposter-president at the leading Arab forum. Syria's legitimate President Bashar al Assad was barred from the Arab League for a decade, only recently being welcomed back into the fold following Syria's successful expulsion of foreign-backed takfiri militias from its key Western cities. A far greater shock came however when Mohammed Jolani nee' Ahmed al Sharaa gave a presentation to the forum and expounded on the need to stop the aggression against the people of Gaza, something on which he hasn't previously seen the need to comment. The video below, posted by Middle East Eye, was headlined as "Israeli expansion threatens the whole region", though this wasn't quite the message Jolani was sending.

In fact when talking about Palestinian rights and the Gaza tragedy, he didn’t actually use the word ‘Israel’, instead calling on the ‘International community to stop the aggression’. Even so, the ‘chutzpah’ of the man is incredible – as someone who has never before expressed any sort of sympathy for the Palestinian cause, and has also done all in his power to kill anyone in Syria who takes the side of the Resistance against the Zionist occupiers. In numerous statements since he usurped the legitimate President of Syria he has declared that Hezbollah and Iran are Syria’s main enemies, and vowed to hunt down anyone with sympathies towards them. Bear this in mind while listening to the first part of his presentation:
As if to make up for his three months of aberrant behaviour and complete subservience to the expansionary agenda of the Zionist entity, Al Sharaa followed his expounding of the Palestinian cause with a recitation of Syria's position on the illegal occupation of the Golan by 'Israel'. By doing so he becomes a self-described traitor to Syria - though the title is a little meaningless; his whole performance merely confirming that he is a Western-controlled asset; we only need to figure out exactly which country or countries' agenda he is best serving - Turkiye, 'Israel', the UK, France or Germany?
In fact Jolani’s appearance at the Arab League was clearly well organised in advance, as a wider view of the Syrian ‘delegation’ revealed, when his address was reported by another local station. In the screenshot below we can see five members of the delegation, including the ‘Foreign Minister’ Mohammed al Shabani, still enveloped in his cocoon of Blairite legitimacy:

The whole performance must have been deeply distressing to the ousted and exiled President Assad, along with all the millions in Syria currently fearing for their lives under Jolani's reign of terror. That would include all those Palestinian 'refugees' who were living under Syria's protection for decades, and who fought with the Syrian Arab Army against the insurgency to liberate Damascus back in 2014. Much of the propaganda spread by the 'New Syria' promoters has focused on what happened in the Southern suburbs of Damascus where various Palestinian groups lived - Tadamon, Yarmouk and Daraya - before the armed militias were mostly driven out to Idlib. (the remaining IS occupants in Hajaa al Aswad were only finally 'bombed out' by Russia in May 2018.) As it happens - and it did happen - Syria's President Assad delivered a speech to an 'Extraordinary' Arab and Islamic Summit' held in Riyadh on November 11th 2024, merely two weeks before the 'rough beast' from Idlib - Tel Aviv, Kiev, Gaziantep, Tajikistan, Xinjiang.. moved in for the kill. It was undoubtedly one of Bashar al Assad's best and most forthright speeches, berating both the Zionist occupiers and their genocidal army and the gutless Arab states who failed to support the Resistance. I've split the recording (which isn't Assad's full speech) into two parts for easier handling. A transcript will follow, as his delivery is sometimes rapid and the translator a little erratic. His speech is also available with subtitles from Syria Insider here.
Lastly a frame to remember of this great leader and Syrian patriot.
